iBRIC+ PhD Programmes
Features: Coursework, followed by a 3-month field immersion programme and PhD research at the individual iBRIC+ where the candidate is selected.
Eligibility:(a)Master's degree/4-year Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology, or M.VSc., or a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, or an equivalent degree.(b) Must hold a 5-year valid national Government (GoI) fellowship.
Participating Institutions: Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), New Delhi, is an autonomous body of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India (GoI), consisting of 13 institutes, namely:
- National Institute of Immunology (BRIC-NII), New Delhi
- National Centre for Cell Science (BRIC-NCCS), Pune
- Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC-ILS), Bhubaneswar
- Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (BRIC-RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram
- Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (BRIC-CDFD), Hyderabad
- National Brain Research Centre (BRIC-NBRC), Manesar
- National Institute of Plant Genome Research (BRIC-NIPGR), New Delhi
- Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (BRIC-IBSD), Imphal
- Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-lnStem), Bengaluru
- National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (BRIC-NIBMG), Kalyani
- Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (BRIC-THSTI), Faridabad
- National Agri-food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), Mohali
- National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (BRIC-NIAB), Hyderabad
The two other DBT-supported institutions are:
- International Centre for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi
- Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad
ICGEB is an international intergovernmental organisation with 69 member states, dedicated to advancing biotechnology research and capacity-building for developing nations; the New Delhi component is supported by the Government of India.
RCB is an Institution of National Importance, created by an Act of Parliament, established by DBT under the auspices of UNESCO. Together, BRIC, RCB and ICGEB are referred to as iBRIC+, for which RCB awards academic degrees.
Note: Candidates who have previously activated any GoI PhD Fellowship are ineligible to apply.
