The MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU) was executed on 03 November, 2021 between Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, providing incubation facilities in BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator and Mizoram University (MZU), Aizawl. The Vice-chancellor of Mizoram University, Prof. KRS Sambasiva Rao and the Executive Director of RCB, Prof. Sudhanshu Vrati signed the MoU.
Prof. J.K. Patnaik, Pro-Vice chancellor; Prof. Lalnundanga, Registrar; Prof. N. Senthil Kumar Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof. G. Gurusubramanian, Dr. Lalhruaitluanga (Coordinator, BiONEST) attended the MoU signing program from MZU.
Dr. Sudeep Bhar, Controller of Administration (COA) and Dr. Suman Gupta (COO, BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator (BBB)), attended from RCB.
RCB is an institution of National Importance established by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India through an Act of Parliament with regional and global partnerships synergizing with the programs of UNESCO as a Category II Centre. The RCB has established BSC BioNest Bioincubator, under the aegis of BIRAC’s BioNEST (Bioincubators Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technologies) Scheme to foster innovation, provide one-stop facilitation to all entrepreneur / start-ups in India. Further, RCB has also created Advanced Technology Platform Centre which is a Government of India-funded technology platform that provides a medium for innovative researchers to accelerate innovations in the field of Bio-Technology and to generate deliverables addressing the issues in public health, agriculture and skill development sectors.
The areas of collaboration will serve as a platform for cross learning, sharing knowledge, best practices on innovation and startup ecosystem development among students. Both the parties (MZU and RCB) after considering their objectives and strengths, agreed to work together and collaborate in the following areas of interest: Entrepreneurship Development and Skill Development in the field of Bio-technology, Exchange of faculty and /or staff, Exchange of students and researchers, Dedicated Lab space for students with innovative ideas, Collaborative Research activities/ publications, Participation in seminars/ workshops/ training programs, Mentoring program, Internship opportunities for students for 6 months’ industrial training and Usage of High-end equipment’s.
Prof. KRS Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, MZU stressed the need for collaboration between RCB & MZU and also envisioned that NABARD could be approached for funding for rural agricultural initiatives for the state of Mizoram.
The duration of this MoU shall be initially for a period of 24 months and may be extended by mutual agreement between the Parties, depending upon the requirement.
